I had my urea breath test done today. The taste wasn't bad. After 2 to 3 hours I started to feel lightheadedness, nausea and shortness of breath. I was wanting to burp but couldn't, so I had pain in my chest, was wanting to vomit but didn't. I wish someone would have told me. I am miserable right now, I can't sleep because it also gave me anxiety, I guess because of all the symptoms.

I had the liquid form of urea breath test. Instantly my stomach didn't agree with it and thought I was going to throw up. I kept it down, while waiting 30 minutes, I got a lot of gas buildup; burping, passing wind, gas pains. It certainly stirred something up.

Saying you do not need to stop taking your PPI (proton pump inhibitor) is not right. I have to be off it for 72 hours. And I'm not even allowed Tums or anything 24 hours prior to the urea breath test. No eating or drinking 4 hours prior, not even water. The preparation is intense; especially for someone who desperately relies on a PPI. I spent most of the second night wide awake from reflux/heartburn pain. My test is tomorrow, so I can’t speak to that yet. But the prep thing caught my eye and I wanted to warn others. Be prepared for heartburn/reflux!

My urea breath test tasted like a bitter margarita mix and burned my throat and vocal cords. It upset my stomach almost immediately. I've been vomiting for several hours, after being fine (except some diarrhea) for about 12 hours. Fever, headache... classic food poisoning symptoms. Guess my body decided this stuff is bad and is trying to get rid of it. No symptoms in my foot.

I took the urea breath test with a liquid version of the pill. The solution tasted like sickly sweet oranges, and I didn't like it that much, but it was bearable. My stomach was a little upset by the acid and the sweetness, but I am having an acid problem in my stomach, so my stomach hurts a lot of the time anyway. This feeling went away within 30 to 60 minutes. Other than that, I didn't have any other side effects, and my test came back negative.

My throat has been on fire ever since I drank the solution for the urea breath test. It has been three days.

I've had nausea and vomiting up to five hours after ingesting the pill that is part of urea breath test. No side effects? Not in my case!

The stuff I drank tasted like lemonade and was good. I just did my urea breath test today so I don’t know if there are going to be any side effects.
