I had tonsillectomy on 9.14.21 on the right side only. This is day six for me. Yesterday was absolutely horrible in the tonsils area and I had stabbing ear pain. Ice pack helped some. The thing I find most horrifying is the taste in my mouth and my partner saying he can smell it when entering the room. We were just having an honest conversation. I can barely eat or drink anything. Swallowing is a painful experience, and I am unable to sleep at night either because I can’t breathe or I feel like I am drowning. No sleep.

I’m a 28 year old healthy man and I am now 7 days after having my tonsillectomy. I hadn’t expected the recovery to be that bad - reading articles such as this one indicated I’d be ok at this point. However that is certainly not the case. I’ve had a number of surgeries (mostly shoulder reconstructions) in my life and this is by far the most painful. I was told the pain would get worse up to days 5/6 and it definitely has. I expect a lot of pain and a long recovery; 2 weeks do not do it justice.

I am 41 and had my tonsils removed along with my uvula cut out on June 18th, 2018. I now know the feeling of pain. It's been almost four weeks since my tonsillectomy and it still hurts to swallow although I am eating, thank goodness. And my ears still hurt. I don't think there is any infection but wondering when is normal coming back. My girlfriend so better thank me for having this done. I was a really loud snorer. Anyway, good luck my friends.
