I have uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. I fell ill with flu-like symptoms that worsened rapidly, with 103 plus fever and redness of the skin. I was diagnosed with group A streptococcal infection, but not fasciitis. Treatment was three weeks of vancomycin and daptomycin IV. There was some permanent scarring and kidney damage.
