I was sound asleep and I felt this sudden sharp pain on my foot from a spider bite. I immediately felt sick to my stomach. A large blister developed quickly and 5 days later it is still there, though smaller.

I was bitten by a brown recluse spider on my lower leg while gardening. Never felt the bite. Within 4 hours I was ill with chills. Next day I saw my dermatologist. I went back the next day after it got 5 times larger with a huge center circle that beat with my heart beat. I was put on Keflex and antineutrophil. Elevation, ice, rest also used. No scar. Some people lose limbs. I was fortunate. I had immune problem. Probably didn't respond as badly as a normal person.

I'm having great pain from the spider bite. It has swollen up and it's in my hip on my backside and it feels like I've gotten a shot. It's very tender and red.

Something bit me, I don’t know if it is a spider, on the right side of my back, below my shoulder bone, about 7 days ago. The bite area has multiple punctures, all centered. Around day 2, it was a hard mound about 2 inch in diameter and a half inch raised and very painful. Days 2 to 6 caused a fire sensation on the mound. The right side around my rib cage had become numb except for the fire from the bite area. Today, I am very stiff on the right side, including my right shoulder and arm and the numbness is reducing.

I was bitten by a grass spider and I feel wiped out. I am on antibiotics. I wonder if this is common. I felt fine before this bite, I am 71 years old.

I was in my shed moving things around and 3 hours later I felt some itching and pain on my right pinky knuckle. It was bothering me because it was red and swollen with a whitehead on it. My girlfriend is a nurse and against her advice I made her pop it. I was shocked by what came out. She pushed really good on it one time and an inch long whitish yellow fang came straight up and out of the middle of it. Wonder if anyone has ever heard of this happening to someone with a spider bite before. My girlfriend is keeping a close eye on it.

I noticed two red dots on my elbow that was sore, probably a spider bite. The next day I noticed a sagging on my elbow like a fluid filled bag. My arm was swollen with a sagging skin ball and my arm was sore. The red dots were visible for about 3 days. This has been here for almost a month.

I felt a slight sensation on my upper forearm, saw what I thought was a fleck of skin and gently using back of other hand swiped downward to my hand area. Next morning the upper arms were a bit sore and hard from the spider bite. Second severe pain down the inner bone of same right hand and a very swollen painful circular hard center area just 1/2 from wrist. It became so swollen looks as if it may burst! Urgent Care misdiagnosed. It is hot and I have continued swelling, and pain level 10.

I got bit by a spider by my hip and now am having trouble walking.

The spider bite under my forearm is red, a little swollen, but there is no pus or pain, just itch. I don't think it was black widow or brown recluse. I have tried Neosporin so far.

I was bitten on the back of my ankle by what we believe was a trap door spider. By the time I would let anyone touch it, it was inflamed and so painful walking was almost impossible. My mom and at that time my very large boyfriend held me down and spliced it open thinking it was full of infection. Instead it was full of webbing. My mom pulled and pulled spider web out. The pain was so intense I barley remember it. With continued treatment it did heal but left a neck of a scar.

I got bit by a spider yesterday while sleeping. I woke up to my shoulder throbbing and my side hurting even though my two bites marks were on my chest on my right side. I was put on skin infection antibiotics and I'm in pain from the bite on my shoulder mostly and side (left side).

I got a very painful spider bite. I didn't see the spider, just wanted to get out of the pants I had on. I have swelling, and pain radiating up leg. It is turning darker.

I had a large swelling from elbow to below in line with my armpit. It was very red, and turned grey. The big dot where the spider bite occurred is still there.

Initially I had a small red and dark area on my ankle after the spider bite. I cleaned and dressed the wound. Day 2 was extremely painful with red encircling my malleolus. Day 3 I had a necrotic lesion about 2 to 3 cm. I went to the doctor and started Bactrim. Day 4, it is still painful and swollen. I have foot cramps, lower back and neck pain. Day 4 I am healing but have sciatica and low back/neck pain, and bite area is numb.

Spider bite on left foot discolored the vein at bite location. A short while later a small quantity of hives formed where clothes applied some pressure to the skin i.e., beltline, shirt cuffs, underwear elastic, socks and shoe lace area. There have been some measure of hives (physical urticaria) since, with one neck to knee full body outbreak. I was told hives can last up to two years. I treat with moisturizing soaps, Benadryl, and sometimes prednisone. The hives drive me crazy. Good days, bad days, I can't wait until this thing runs its course and I am back to normal.

Yesterday my husband was bitten by a spider, not sure what type, but he was in the woods repairing the roof of the shed. He moved some wood stuff out of the way on the ground, and all of a sudden he said it hurt terribly. I heard him hobbling in from outside yelping from pain. He saw a spider but not sure of color due to knocking it off so fast. He was in so much pain. The pain was intense, burning and stinging and lasted many hours. He went to the hospital and they gave him pain medications, but the stinging continued. He is better today, but there are 2 marks where fangs went in, large ones. He said the spider was small like about dime size, no red area today. The big thing with this type spider was the pain and stinging sensation for many hours. I hear the hobo spider is about the same as brown recluse, so watch out for that one too.

I have a small blister, dark red in center of 4 x 4 in red circle. It is burning like fire, hard as a rock and underneath skin it hurts to touch. The pain is spreading down to my knee and top of inner thigh. My body is freezing and leg is on fire, I am sleepy and nauseated. I don't know what bit me, I was putting mason jars in an old dark shed that had spiders in it. Nothing I do helps. Antibiotic creams or opening center bump that was white, now dark red. There are small blisters around the center bump.

I went fishing one night in an area that is known to have lots and lots of spiders (the local lock and piers). The spiders have webs all over the rail system. I generally pay no attention to them. I got home early on a Friday morning from a night of fishing and noticed my left forearm was itching like crazy. I went to bed and got up a few hours later and noticed some swelling. The swelling increased over the course of the day and as an outdoorsman that has been bitten by just about everything there is, I paid it no mind. I got to bed Friday night. I woke up Saturday morning and panic set in. My left forearm was about 3 times the size it should be. Blisters were starting to pop up all around my forearm and the swelling had moved into my hand and up into by bicep area. It's actually very hard to describe how big the swelling was; my skin was so tight it was starting to split open. I went to the emergency room. They could not diagnose what type of spider it was. I was admitted and put on a constant antibiotic and steroid drip for 5 days and 4 nights. I was later told had I waited much longer, I could have lost my arm.

I had spider bite on the top of middle finger. I stupidly squashed the spider with my finger, I felt the bite like a little needle, and felt fine for a day. Then throat started tightening having a reaction to it. After that I had lots of symptoms, fever, generally feeling unwell, then the pain started in finger; it felt like a sharp sting feeling which moved to my wrist. Since then I can feel something moving up and down my wrist, very painful. Some painkillers don't even touch it. I’ve been to the general physician but they just think it's a trapped nerve but the pain isn't going away, it is going worse. What makes it worse is, there no sign of anything, it feels like it's all going on inside. The general physician thinks nothing going on.

I don’t know if this can happen or not but I’m totally freaking out. I was sitting with my kids on the couch and I rubbed my eye and it started burning horribly and when I got up to go wash my eye out I suddenly had a dead spider on my hand and I’m not sure where it came from, but I could have gotten the poison in my eye to make it burn like it did.

My spider bite symptoms were first it was killing my white blood cells, then it started killing red blood cells, and I had to have emergency blood transfusion. The sickness was rough, finally I had surgery to cut grapefruit size section off hip. Never did find out what type of spider it was, the doctor said he couldn’t find anything like it in medical books. I was in hospital for 13 days.

I think I got bitten by a spider. I have a hole almost the size of a dime and I’m having pain, it hurts to walk. I feel like a burning in my leg, and it is by my ankle.

I have been bitten by something, probably a spider, and now there a long hard line in that place, like a worm.

I woke up with a very hard, visibly red raised lump about the size of a pea in my armpit, I think from a spider bite. So far it is not painful unless pressure is applied to either side of it as though squeezing a pimple. Then it feels like a hard bruise.

I have 2 or more blister type bites on the tip and along the side of my pinky finger. I am having sharp pains in the joints of my fingers, I wonder if this could be a spider bite.

At the end of July I had a bite on my leg about six inches below my knee and I felt it was a spider bite but didn't know what kind. The area around the bite has callused over since. I did have a pink ring around the bite which spread then I had the pus seeping. It seems to me my leg is puffy in the area and I keep having pain down my leg into my shin bone. I really don't know how to relieve the pain.

I was bitten by a spider in my apartment, on the ankle. I woke up to pain. I saw a fresh red circle on the ankle and rinsed the affected area with water, then applied hydrogen via swab followed by antibiotic gel (400 units) bacitracin. Two hours later I had diarrhea, and had pain in ankle that extended up into my leg. I've since taken Keflex 500 mg, doxycycline 500 mg. Doctors are not helping despite blood test and biopsy. I’ve had diarrhea and pain every day since 8/2013, almost a year later now. Doctor screwed up the biopsy and now I have foot half numb several times a day. ‘I had to cauterize the needle hole to avoid it bleeding out', said the doctor. My response was, 'I never heard of anyone bleeding to death from a needle hole'.

I was sitting in a chair outside when I felt a sharp sting. Within less than 1 minute there was a small red bump. This was shortly followed by a painful burning sensation. A couple of hours later the inside bend of my right arm was red in an approximately 2" x 3" area. The following day the redness had spread and the area felt hot to the touch and was painful and tender to touch. I am headed to the doctor tomorrow.

My wife got up and found 4 spots that looked like bites, around her middle, and they seem to be real sore. I've checked around the bed and the chair she sits most of the day in and can't find any sign of spiders.

My 2- year-old daughter was bitten by a spider today. The bite was swollen, red, and it had a little drainage. It has been itching, so I took her to the ER. The doctor gave her an antibiotic shot and sent her home and told me to soak her arm in warm soapy water.

I’m not sure what bit me, but when it happened it felt like a big needle going in. I was on a chair, sat on it, and it got me good in the butt. After the bite or sting, there was intense pain on that side and an area with two holes in it and it was red and swollen. Over the next few days, the pain got worse and was really bad in my joints – hip, knee, and ankle. My right leg hurt and I was almost in tears. It has been 10 days and I still have pain in my hip area. It has gotten somewhat better, but the bite area still is sore and it’s still a problem to sit or even lie down, putting pressure on the bite area. I saved the bug but have no idea what it is even after looking online at tons of insects. It has a black and brown body with 4-6 legs (not sure because I killed it), but it also has a gray and black pattern around the edges of its body and the top (by head) is more black and the bottom is more light brown with a spot pattern around the outer edges. It has an oval body and sort of a heart-shaped head with two antennas (or pinchers). I’ve never seen one before and hope I never see one again. I’m going to the doctor this week because I think if it was a normal bite, it would be fine by now. It still hurts. I’d like to find lots of pictures of bugs. I’m wondering what type of bug could cause such pain, especially when bit.
