Eight months ago I was in a roll-over car accident. The emergency room doctors determined that I had a herniated disc in my neck. I was doing a lot better after 6 months, but recently I've been experiencing a lot of pain in the middle of my upper shoulders and neck. Whenever I try to do some work around the house the pain is progressively unbearable.

I have terrible pains on both sides of my neck and it runs through both shoulders (now I can’t even go to sleep on either side). I have pains in both shoulders, upper back, and both arms. The 4 MRIs haven’t picked up anything noticeable that points to the culprit. I had lower lumbar surgery in 2008. Now both legs are getting squirrelly on me too. Poor posture, and a real bad car accident when I was a bit younger than I am now. Some days I can’t stand it. Getting those tension headaches almost daily now, for 6 years.

I woke up one morning with a severe pain in my neck and shoulder that I’ve been dealing with for over a month now. I have no insurance and have been to the emergency room multiple times now. I can’t take this pain anymore and sometimes wish I wouldn’t wake up. I’ve had an x-ray done and was told I have arthritis in my cervical spine. Wish I knew what I can do to relieve this pain.

For me it is chronic dull pain on the base of my neck, and stiff neck that doesn't go away. Sharp and unbearable pain comes, mostly with overuse of my arm by lifting heavy things or repetitive movements such as chopping. When it's bad, pain goes to my head behind the ear and around the eye, and down to my shoulder and upper arm. I feel like I'm coming down with a flu. Rest, head pack and anti-inflammatory medicine help. I take Mobic, nothing else works for me.

I have neck and shoulder persistent pain for more than a month. I had a pain reliever but the pain won't go and interrupted my ADL (activities of daily living). I can't even attend to my work. I feel depressed and had poor sleep. I am just waiting for x-ray result of cervical spine which was taken today.

I was pulling my hair through a highlighting cap. I got halfway and couldn't anymore. I stopped and removed the cap. Four days later I am having excruciating pain in my shoulder blade which goes up into my neck. I can hardly move at all. Sleeping, sitting or standing hurts. I don't know what to do with myself. I am taking Co-codamol but it is not working.

I was told to take escitalopram for sleep problems. The severe neck and shoulder pain began a month later, but I didn't connect it. Due to this pain, doctor ordered physical therapy. I did it for 18 months. I did not like the way escitalopram made me feel during day, so I slowly stopped it. The pain in my neck and shoulders ceased. Angry doctor said I had to get back on it. I did and pain came back immediately. I looked on-line and saw that was the cause. I got off it, and pain is completely gone. Two doctors knew I was on this medication and neither caught it. Please, please check possible side effects as you begin a new medication.
