My separation anxiety revolved around my mom. It’s not that I thought she wouldn't come back and get me, I was afraid that something would happen to her and I wouldn't be able to help her! It consumed me. I was physically ill and I also became agoraphobic. When I started driving it faded away! I never found out what may have caused it. Thank you for your article.

My daughter and her husband separated three years ago and my 10-year-old granddaughter has separation anxiety when she’s with her mother on her days. She follows her around and won’t let her out of her sight. As a grandmother I am worried to watch her while my daughter goes for a doctor’s appointment because she gets so upset about her mother leaving her. She has been like this for three years. It doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I wish I knew what we can do to help her get over her anxiety.
