I had a grade 3 rupture of two of the quadriceps group 2 inches above the knee, including a fascia tear. Surgery was 11/28/18 followed by 4 weeks in an immobilizer, then 4 weeks of 'easy does it' therapy. It's now 6 month since surgery, I still have some swelling and pain when using my quads, mainly up or down stairs (can only do 3 to 4 steps normally and then one at a time). I am very unstable without neoprene brace. Doctor said it will take a year or more and I believe it. Surgeon said that for 17 years it was the worst tear he'd ever seen.
