I was diagnosed with Q fever today after a week of fevers of 103, chills, high blood pressure, severe headaches and body aches, profusive sweating to the point of having to strip everything bare and spreading out new linen nightly. And all due to my furry friend Koda; she's an indoor/outdoor cat. And we have had her since she was a baby. Then she slipped outside one evening and we didn't see her for a while, then she came back and she was pregnant. I wound up in the hospital for a week before CDC was called.

I was sick and misdiagnosed for 5 months and given antibiotic treatment that didn’t cure me. After the chronic Q fever diagnosis, I was given doxycycline hyclate 100 mg 2 times a day for 3 months. Two weeks after I was finished with that, the symptoms started resurfacing, so I was put back on doxycycline. Then 9 days later, my doctor put me on hydroxychloroquine 200 mg 3 times a day for 18 months. So at this point, I’ve been on both medicines for 12 days.
