The neck pain started on the left and travelled across to the right where it became more severe, with a sore throat and a rushing sound in the right ear, more like an infection. It was worse when lying down. I am on my fifth day of pain. This morning was the worst severe spasm of the neck. It is easing now with anti-inflammatory medicines and ice pack, although the pain killers are not doing much good. I may need to see my general physician if I am no better tomorrow.

My neck pain started about 9 months ago, the pain is around the right side of the neck. At times the pain gives me a head ache; this is all around the skull and it stops me in my tracks, I’ve got to push myself to do anything. It stops me from thinking straight, I had black thoughts as nothing seems to work. I am quite fit and when I can will exercise the neck but I am not sure what the correct exercises are.

I had no injury which I can think of. Starting about February my neck ache gradually got worse and now I have problems turning the head to the right and left; it is worse to the right. My right upper arm hurts when sitting up and reaching back for anything and in certain positions. I am waking up in the night in such pain I can’t turn over without moving the whole body and keeping my head still sometimes I can hear a crack sound too! I’m a very active person and certainly not a softie but this is stopping me doing the things I love.

I suffer frequent nausea, dizziness, photophobia with my right sided neck pain. I have had physiotherapy and acupuncture. Cold gives temporary relief. Heat increases the pain. Nothing helps the pain. I have used Tylenol, ibuprofen, naproxen, T3 helps a bit, Tramacet a bit, and gabapentin helps a bit. Clonazepam can help or make it worse. My quality of life is poor because, although I try to carry on normally, I am constantly suffering except while asleep. My sleep quality is poor because I wake up with neck pain several times during night. I have also tried all kinds of pillows. Pain hits like lightning upon arising in the morning. I have history of whiplash 10 years ago. I am semiretired. I am having an MRI in June.

I have chronic neck pain for the last two years, and it’s getting worse. I can't turn my head to the left, it hurts when I do it. It's a constant throbbing, it gets worse when I do any activity that involves looking down, which is almost doing anything. My arms get numb, shoulders are in constant pain, headaches every day. Some days are worse depending on my activities. I get strong pain on my back, and it feels like it’s on fire. Many times I lose energy and feel tired and get dizzy. I hope every morning to have the strength.

I experienced stiff neck first at the base of the neck, which then moved to the right side and then included the shoulder. I have a high tolerance to pain, however this is a 10. Cold doesn’t seem to affect it nor heat. I took Tylenol but found no relief.

My scalp hurts, like someone is pulling my hair. My neck hurts also, I don't know what this is, but would really like to get it fixed.

The pain in my neck woke me up around 3:00am. I tried to move my head buy the pain was so intense I cried. I took 2 Naprosyn and there has been no relief. I cannot move my head back or to the sides. I can only move it a little forward. Pain won"t go away.

I didn't do my neck any favors when I was younger. I remember making it sore and not being able to turn my head quite a few times. Lately there is a constant dull ache in the left neck/shoulder area and my left arm is noticeably weaker with middle and pointing finger a little numb.

For the past few months I have had some pain on the left side of my neck when I awaken. It became a bit more painful over the month. I attributed this to my gardening activities; I had been planting lots of bulbs in pot along with other gardening chores which caused me lean toward my right side, etc. But, yesterday I lifted/dragged some heavy bags of soil in the garden. Today I am in severe pain when I lean forward, backwards, or turn my head.

I suffered from spinal stenosis and needed surgery as my cervical spine opening for my spinal cord had narrowed to 5 mm from 15 mm (as stated on my MRI). I also have a herniated disk and bone spurs in my cervical spine. The surgeon only repaired the narrowing and not the other problems. I still suffer from headaches, neck aches, and shoulder aches on a daily basis. The only relief is with ice packs. I don't know what else to do.

My neck is very painful and sore to the touch below the neck. It feels bruised in the muscle right next to the spine.
