After 3 sinus surgeries in 3 years, and extraction of abscessed back molar (at tip of root, in jaw), and continuous oral antibiotics to stave off meningitis, I am now on a course of IV antibiotic, with infectious disease (ID) specialist quarterbacking. After consulting 2 ENTs, 3 oral surgeons, previous ID doctor, as well as my internist I’m hopeful that the IV antibiotics (meropenem) plus oral anti-fungal medications will get rid of mastoiditis for good. I was diagnosed with MRI with gadolinium contrast, per doctor’s recommendation.
