My experience with liver biopsy was good. Everyone was very friendly. I got an ultrasound first, then the radiologist explained the procedure. A quick stab with a needle, minimal to moderate pain (hard to describe but it literally lasted one or two seconds) and it was over. I was cautioned to watch for bleeding and report to the hospital if I had severe pain. But I drove myself home and all was well (didn't want any sedation and did not need it).

I have a friend who had a liver biopsy and found that his liver is in very bad condition. He has 39 tumors on his liver and prognosis is not good.

A friend is a recovering drug addict and now I found out she has been drinking (a lot) and going to the hospital for a liver biopsy. I am very concerned about what her chances are.
