The first treatment my daughter was on was strong steroid injections (adrenocorticotropin hormone - ACTH) every other day for 6 months. It worked while on it but failed when stopped. We tried again to no success. They also tried anticonvulsants to no effect. Doctors wanted her to try the seizure diet of no carbohydrates but I didn’t feel that would succeed. They had no suggestions after that so we stopped trying to treat her and focused on learning ASL (American Sign Language) and speech therapy.
