I had x-ray and MRI before being diagnosed with kyphosis.

Nine years, 6 doctors, numerous x-rays and MRIs later finally a doctor uttered the word cervical kyphosis when explaining my condition to me and why I wasn't a good candidate for multi-level artificial disc replacements. Point of the story is to keep asking questions; what, where, why, why not, who, etc., until that little bell in your head goes off and you understand why you have pain.

The MRI and x-rays are both very revealing that I have kyphosis.
