I came home from work with excruciating stomach pain and body aches. I lay down and woke 14 hours later not realizing I had a fever over 40 degrees. My partner took me to the emergency and I was diagnosed with adenovirus 14. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days on IV fluids. My platelets dropped to a low of 48. Day 9, I am still recovering.

I thought my granddaughter had pink eye so I took her to the doctor. She said it was pink eye and gave me a prescription for eye drops. I put the eye drops in and gave them to her for three days. On the third day her eye still wasn't any better. She had just missed the first 3 days of school. Now I took her back to the doctor and she says she thinks it's the adenovirus 14 and that she wants me to take her to an eye doctor to know for sure. Ugh, I want this to be over already! I still need to put the drops in.

I presented Saturday morning with stiffness, achiness, headache, weakness and exhaustion. I took Ibuprofen, took an Epsom salt bath after doing stretches and trying to loosen up. By afternoon I was very sleepy and achy and went to bed. Later fever of 102 presented. I was in excruciating pain all over and could hardly move. Fever broke around 1:30 Monday morning. Today is Monday and I'm still weak but not in as much pain. The worst part of adenovirus 14 for me is the extreme pain all over. Felt like a bomb went off inside my body. Every cell hurt and it hurt even more to move or exert any energy.

My 3 year old was diagnosed with adenovirus and was hospitalized for 3 days after severe high fever for 7 days. The virus spread in her bladder, eyes, respiratory system and started to develop into meningitis. She was so ill, had not eaten for 5 days, was crying a lot and the fever was 39.9 at most times; no fever medication could reduce it. She has been placed on drip with aggressive antibiotics to help break down the virus.

My brother passed away from adenovirus 14 in April of 2008. He got sick and went to the doctor. He was told it was a viral infection, and to go home and rest. He went home, jumped in the shower and dropped dead. He was a healthy 50 year old man; only about 10 people contracted this and died in 2008 as far as I was told.

I had a rapid onset of muscle aches, chills, and a sore throat, along with a persistent hacking nonproductive cough and fatigue. All symptoms except the cough were gone in about 10 days.
