What the article fails to say is that eating meats also raises cholesterol and your risk of coronary heart disease. With a vegan or vegetarian diet, adding vitamin C to a meal can be as easy as adding a slice of lemon to your water. Also dried figs, chia seeds and black strap molasses are all rich sources of iron. With a little planning it is easy for a vegetarian to up the body’s iron absorption.

I have iron deficiency and take iron folate pill 5 mg per 2 days, to test effectiveness and side effects.

I am currently receiving iron infusions because the iron tablets interfere with my thyroid medication, and magnesium supplements I take for hypomagnesemia.

For iron deficiency I take Compirion, folic acid, and vitamin B12.
