My wife uses the Medtronic Paradigm insulin pump (for 25 years) and it works well. The blood sugar check she uses is Contour because it communicates with her pump electronically. Over the past year and half lots of insurance companies stopped covering the Contour Next test strips so beware if you are thinking of getting a Medtronic insulin pump because that is the tester they recommend and the only one that communicates with their pumps.

I have worn a Medtronic insulin pump for about 7 years. When I began using the device my insulin usage was at 60 to 90 units per day; now I am using 25 to 30 units of Humalog Insulin a day. I know that this little devise significantly improved my daily quality of life and in all probability actually saved my life. I was what they call a "brittle" diabetic and my blood glucose scores bounced up and down like a rubber ball. When I started using the pump, my A1C"s were in the 11-12.5 range; they are now 6.0 to 7.3.

If you are a doctor or a chemist, you may know that cold chain medicines need to be stored in a cooler temperature until it's been used. However, regular patients of insulin pump or their family members may not aware of this fact that once these medical supplies come in contact with room temperature they need to be utilized within a month.
