Lupus has affected my lungs for years. In 2019 I had sweats and chills, and a cough. Three different doctors gave me prednisone and antibiotics. I got so bad my oxygen levels were at 77 when I was admitted for hypoxia and placed on life support for 3 weeks. I was in the hospital for 3 months, and now two years, I am out my balance, and confusion and effects on mental health seem to be permanent. I am alive and functional so I am thankful for that. To this day no one seems to know why I shut down. They tell me my bloodwork for lupus was fine.

I recently was diagnosed hypoxemia. Not quite sure what to expect. He prescribed oxygen at night. I was wondering if this could be passed down in families. My grandpa was short of breath, so was my mother, and now me! Wonder if this is something you should always be on medication for.

I can’t take 2 steps without my oxygen level dropping even while wearing oxygen. My hypoxia is due to scarring in lungs from rheumatoid arthritis.
