I was taking Nexium every fourth day and that kept the heartburn down, but on the third evening and night I had bad heartburn. On one third evening, about two hours before going to sleep I ate some popcorn. No heartburn that evening or night. Now I eat popcorn every evening. No more heartburn. No more Nexium!

I drank a half bottle of beer and it was downhill from there. I was shocked to find out (after reading this page) that alcohol contributes to heartburn. This is the first time that a bottle of beer caused this effect and I will monitor it in the future.

Chocolate, tomato products, tea, coffee, fried foods, and citrus fruits, all make heartburn pain worse.
