I received a bovine valve 14 years ago after diagnosed with heart murmur. I remember my doctor telling at that time that it will last approximately 15 years. I am now 85 years old and have been told that my echo now is telling them that my valve is moderate to severe. The doctor feels I should have a procedure other than the open heart one that I had 14 years ago.

Doctor told me my child of 4.5 years has grade 2/6 murmur while he was admitted due to fever. Now after the fever ECG is normal. I wonder if we need to do an echo test.

My heart murmur treatment was surgery to replace heart valve with a pig substitute valve.
