GBS is (also) short for group B strep. It took over due to a serious Bartonella/Lyme infection that had grown over 30 years, especially on several medical implants including an IUD (intrauterine device). Lyme grows vaginally but is not an STD, so the obstetrician/gynecologist’s tests don't find it. I was in so much pain that it was hard to tell I had new GBS infections, but it stated with a GBS UTI (urinary tract infection) and by the time I was back at the obstetrician/gynecologist for increased vaginal pain, I was in trouble due to heart failure. My brain shut down in fog.

Untreated childhood GBS (Guillain-Barre syndrome) returned first as urinary tract infection, then recurring vaginal GBS. I had burning vaginal pain - pins and needles. Obstetrician/gynecologist sent me to the emergency room (ER), and then ER to the obstetrician/gynecologist. I could not get treatment. Heart failing and attacks, brain shut down, and listlessly bedridden for 2 years until diagnosed with sepsis but almost denied IV antibiotics due to the condition then called chronic. GBS was opportunistic due to Lyme. I was never getting diagnosed without an LLMD (lime literate medical doctor), go see one! Pain gone and life returning now.

I was unable to find the reason for all of the pain I was having. I had burning with urination and almost like an attack that would cause stabbing pain in my kidneys and abdomen! It would come randomly without warning! I was nauseous all the time! I had a constant urge to urinate. I can’t believe what others have posted that group B strep infection is most often not treated! Once on the antibiotic I experienced relief after one day!

I am 39 years old and 37 weeks pregnant. I have no symptoms at all of group B strep infection. I just found out today that last week’s test came back positive. I will receive antibiotics through an IV during labor.

I'm 36 years old and my symptoms of strep infection first was liquid discharge and bad itching. I got tested and it was group B, I was given clindamycin suppository for 7 days. After a month it came back but the test showed not as much as the first time. He give me clindamycin again. Now I'm having pelvis pain and really badly boated, not sure if it's from the group B or something else is going on.

My symptoms of group B strep infection include severe burning on the inside of my vagina with a fungus like material surrounding my vagina on the outside. I do not burn when I pass urine but I do burn before I have to go to the restroom. It is getting severe because my left kidney has pain which shoots up to my shoulder blade. The other symptoms include sharp pain in my left kidney shooting across my back to the right side and pain in the center of my back. It hurts me to walk sometimes.

I started experiencing chronic UTIs about 12 months ago. My symptoms are usually hives or a rash that starts around my ankles and moves up toward my inner thighs, stomach, and chest area. My doctor referred to me to a urologist and I had a cystoscopy done in Sept 2012 and had my urethra widened during that procedure. I had no problems since then until this week – when the rash and hives started back up. My regular doctor tested my urine and it came back positive for group B strep. I am 32 years old, never have been pregnant, and have an IUD currently in place.

My vaginal area burns. I've been dealing with recurrent UTIs and painful contractions in my bladder area since July of 2012. Then I was diagnosed with and treated for Lyme disease in the fall of 2012. It seemed to relieve the symptoms, but they have been back and disrupting my life since December. The doctor ran a culture yesterday. With my history, I'm sure it will be Group B strep again. I'm wondering why I keep getting this and the UTIs. They are ruining my life.
