Question:
What educational methods or approaches have you or your child used to deal with dyslexia? Submit Your Comment
I was never diagnosed with dyslexia in school. I struggled with reading out loud and had problems with spelling; the words would lift up and spin when I was overwhelmed or reading a fine print. When my daughter was in kindergarten I knew she had the same problem too. We had the public school testing done. It was found that she needed help and was given an Individual Education Plan (IEP). I went to the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana (DII) and they used Orton-Gillingham method. Reading by colors can do a lot too, she uses a highlighter now in the seventh grade and her best color is blue. She gets ‘A’s and ‘B's and works hard for them.
