Have you used home remedies to treat signs of dehydration? Please share your experience. Submit Your Comment
Yes, I was dehydrated and too sick to get out of bed for a while, and living on my own. When I did get up I was weak and felt too tired to stay upright. I made it to the kitchen and made a simple remedy, a glass of water with about 1/2 a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of sugar.
I have low sodium (so imagine my irritation at a one size fits all holier-than-thou medical wannabe family who says everyone needs to cut back sodium!) so at the first feeling of oddness or signal from my dog I mix slightly saltier oral rehydration solution, usually in water, sometimes in juice. It's the most delicious feeling in those moments and I swear I feel the sodium and potassium channels in my neurons welcoming their return to a sense of normalcy. I was prescribed 6 to 9 g sodium daily or to limit my free water so I do the latter.
I had not taken any liquid from noon until 8:00am the next morning. Upon rising I felt nauseated and light headed. This is abnormal for me and I was unable to related this condition to any physical problem until I realized it was probably due to dehydration. I began to intake water and after about three hours I returned to my normal healthy energetic state. I also experienced sweating.
