I worked in the cosmetic department and wore cosmetics, contact lenses my whole adult life. At 59 I started getting hives, severe itching, couldn't figure out from what. Different areas of my face and body were affected. Allergy tested twice, negative for seasonal, cats, dogs, dust, the usual; the third time they added chemicals and it turned out 16 were positive, but main ones that were moderate severe were glycols, fragrance, and blue dye 1. That explained why I couldn't wear my contacts anymore, every solution, every lotion, make-up, sunscreen, even Benadryl has all or one in it. What a depressed 4 years I have had! Finally figured out what to look for (even prescriptions) have glycol in them and blue dye, found a generic Benadryl for just in case I have trouble breathing during a reaction again. The female hormone cream should have clued me in 2 years earlier, but my doctor wouldn't believe me when I said it was giving me sores. Needless to say it is gone once I got skin tested.
