At age 13 I was treated for a corneal ulcer, said to be caused by herpes. I was treated with drops made of my own blood. It cleared until I was 29, then I was treated with a salve. I have not had re-occurrence since, but have since just had surgery for back of tongue cancer and pathology says HPV16 markers are present. I don’t agree, wonder if this can be a mistake, it is impossible!

Medication helped take care of a serious corneal ulcer (all are serious) and I needed Vigamox, cefazolin and gentamicin every hour for a week, then every 2, and then 3 hours for the following week, dropping gentamicin mid second week. I still have a small speck and will need antibiotics for more weeks. It takes months to fully heal and I will never see the same again. I will never wear a contact lens again; not worth the risk.

I was treated with prescription steroid eye drops to reduce the inflammation. As I have allergies, I was also given prescription allergy eye drops for the corneal ulcer which only had to be used once daily. Results were good.

I was diagnosed approximately 10 years ago of having a corneal abrasion, at my local hospital. I then was referred to an ophthalmologist (eye surgeon). I was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer and was prescribed Vigamox, & erythromycin ointment as well as some steroid eye drops. My condition is still on-going and I am running out of options as my chronic corneal ulcer is not getting better and my doctor has been talking about considering a corneal transplant.

I had no pain, but I was sensitive to sunlight and I had a whitish spot on the eye. I was prescribed Vigamox and Epitezan. Seek immediate help, corneal ulcer is a really serious condition.
