My symptoms of corneal ulcer are sharp stinging type pain in the eye, and redness and watering of the eye. It is hard to look at bright lights.

With corneal ulcer I had sharp pain, tears and soreness. I thought it was an infection and tried chloramphenicol for a few days. No change, so I saw my general physician who said it looked like an ulcer. I went to the eye hospital. The doctor put me on antibiotic drops (levofloxacin) every hour for 48 hours then I saw her again and drops were reduced to daytime on my 3rd trip to the hospital. Now I am on reduced antibiotics and steroid drops (fluorometholone) for 5 days minimum. Visible ulcer is reducing but there is some damage to the epithelium.

Thumping pain, painful to look at light, eyes tearing, and blurred vision were the symptoms of my corneal ulcer.

I have only one eye and also have wet AMD (age-related macular degeneration) and have been having injections in the eye once a month. I suddenly could not see and had a misty vision. I saw the doctor who indicated a corneal viral ulcer. I am still on anti-viral tablets and will see him again on Friday.

I didn’t know I had corneal ulcers until I rubbed my eye. I had to have a complete corneal transplant in my right eye and a corneal patch over an ulcer in my left eye. All due to the herpes virus. I was 15 at the time when all this happened.

I would like to know how long it took others for their corneal ulcer to clear up. I was recently diagnosed with a corneal ulcer due to sleeping with my contacts on and was prescribed ciprofloxacin 4 drops a day for 7 days. Today is the 4th day of antibiotics. The irritation is gone but I can still see the ulcer is still there.

There is pain, like there is constant soap in the eye. The burning is incessant, very, very painful.
