Question:
Have you made any lifestyle modifications including diet or exercise? Submit Your Comment
Before finding out that I have CHF, I had made some lifestyle changes designed to promote healthy living. However, after finding out that I have CHF, I increased the number of lifestyle changes by cutting out all tobacco and alcohol. I also started making dietary changes, such as reducing sodium and fluid in my diet. I have also added a program of water aerobics to my normal exercise routine in order to increase my cardio capacity.
After my first cardiac event, I went on a strict diet change and moderate exercise program. However, I didn't change my stressful work situation. So, I had two more cardiac "events," a stent inserted, and then congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation. When I had a serious heart attack just after a hurricane, I had to really find out what was going on. So, I had a cardiac biopsy and it was confirmed that I have amyloidosis. I believe that most doctors didn't have a clue about this. By then, I had gone to four hospitals. Now I'm taking control of my life by a stricter diet and careful exercise.
