Question:
Describe the events that led to a diagnosis of compartment syndrome. Submit Your Comment
I was working in my shop one day and suddenly felt extreme pain in my right forearm and at the same time the fingers of the hand quit working. Then I noticed I had no pulse in the wrist and had my wife drive me to the emergency room. After several scans it was found that a blood clot had plugged the main artery causing compartment syndrome. A quick flight by helicopter to the hospital and onto the operating table where the surgeon removed the clot. At this time about 7 hours had passed since the beginning of the incident.
Lifting and twisting with a heavy weight caused my compartment syndrome.
