After dealing with severe symptoms of acute bronchitis for 8 days, and no help from OTC allergy and cold medications, I finally went to the doctor. After diagnosis of URI (upper respiratory infection), bronchitis, and laryngitis {no voice}, I took doctor's advice; warm steam vaporizer, Equate brand maximum strength 'Mucus Relief' severe congestion and cough liquid {every 4 hours for 2 days}, and 2 (200 mg) generic ibuprofen as needed per bottle instructions. Amazing results and I was finally able to get some sleep. My voice will take another week to be back to normal.

Weirdly I found that drinking hot milk helps to calm and soothe the symptoms of very dry irritated throat which in turn helped to reduce coughing. Drinking water seemed to exacerbate bronchitis.

I have a dry cough. I am weak and when up a while must sit down. Chest feels tight when coughing and lungs hurt. I took Mucinex for 4 days, but am still sick.
