I am currently on my second Mirena IUD (intrauterine device). At the beginning of my first IUD, I experienced the worst cramps and nausea during my period. After a few cycles, this went away. Also, my period became really short and very light as my body got used to the changes. Now in my second IUD, my period is only a day and barely there. The only side effect I experience is breast tenderness (during my period). I have tried other birth control methods (the pill and patch), the ease of this one makes it my favorite.

I have bad experience with the Paragard IUD. I bled for almost 2 months straight and I got cold chills really bad and I was running a fever of 102 the whole time when I was on my period. Once my period stopped I had shivers so bad I was taking a bath and I thought I was going to have to yell for my husband to help me out of the bath because I was shivering so bad I could hardly get out the tub. My May period I bled 10 days and if my husband and I had sex I bleed every time after having sex.

I had hair loss when I used an IUD (intrauterine device) birth control method.
