First symptoms of bile duct cancer were fatigue and pain behind breast bone/sternum. That was where the tumor was located in the liver lobe. Next came what I called random shocks to nerves and muscle weakness. Never had any blood test that showed anything wrong with my liver function. A CT of chest found the tumor during a routine COPD checkup. Don’t stop going to doctors if you know something isn't right with your body. No matter how many say they find nothing wrong.

My initial symptom of bile duct cancer was pain in my back in the right upper quadrant (RUQ) region after being diagnosed with diabetes. I had RUQ pain under my ribs, and constant itching on my back. The pain got worse and my stomach was burning constantly. More than usual. I have GERD so I always had trouble with my stomach. My gallbladder was removed many years ago due to gallstones. I take omeprazole for heartburn, but that wasn't working anymore. I went to my gastroenterologist. He decided a CT of my pancreas would be a start. That is when they found the tumor in my liver. Everyone kept saying I shouldn't have pain. Listen to your own voice. I had pain even though the tumor was small. I had minimal appetite but was very bloated in my abdomen.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct cancer in January of 2016. I could not eat, had constant upset stomach, and lost 30 lb in 6 weeks. When I tried to eat my stomach would bloat up and cause pain and constant burping. A tumor was found in my duodenum which was inoperable. A resection was done to connect my stomach to the small intestine. I have been on chemotherapy this past year and now am on gemcitabine every other week. Cancer marker went from 2000 last January to 103 this February. I feel fine, able to eat, not too many side effects now, and am maintaining my weight. Not sure where we will be by next January.

My symptoms prior to diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) were right shoulder pain, very slight jaundice, raised LFT (liver function test) levels, hiccups, itching of scalp and later hands, feet and abdomen, fatigue and a feeling that something was wrong with me.

My mom was diagnosed with bile duct cancer on April 1 2009. It had already metastasized to her bones. The only symptom she had was hip pain which ended up being a large tumor on her bone. Her diagnosis was terminal. We were told this is a fast growing cancer and in a week there were 5 more tumors on her spine. She still chose radiation and chemotherapy but she never got to the chemotherapy for hope for a miracle. The radiation burned her insides so bad it made things even worse for her. She passed August 1 2009. All I can say is to try and stay on top of your health by eating healthy and maintaining a normal weight along with annual tests. If anything is caught early enough there is always hope.

My right side under my left arm kept hurting. I told the doctor something was wrong, but he wouldn’t listen, and said it was fatty liver. That is not true. It’s been three years of pain, and worse. I have lost about 50 lb., and can’t eat. Now I am going for MRI, and I hope it’s not too late. What I have read about bile duct cancer is not good! Doctors need to listen; nobody knows your body better than yourself!! Please wish me good luck.

My mom passed away of bile duct cancer recently. We did not find out about her cancer until 3 weeks before she passed away. I have read all of the obvious symptoms but what I have not found anywhere is some of the things she was doing towards the end so I wanted to talk to someone that has been through this. I know none of what I find out is going to bring her back but for some reason I really do need these answers.

My husband has stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). He was diagnosed about 6 months ago. He is having a lot of stomach pain, not related to diarrhea or constipation. He has lost 75 pounds and eating is becoming nonexistent. He's on chemotherapy and takes morphine for pain.

My symptoms of bile duct cancer were pain and soreness upper right quadrant, front and back. I thought it was a kidney stone or something like that. I had it for about 6 months, then my family doctor, sent me in for an ultrasound of liver and abdomen, and found tumors in the liver.
