I have had bacterial vaginosis (BV) on and off for about 7 years. I always told myself if I ever found a real solution, I would put a comment on these websites. Try Fem-Dophilus. It is a probiotic that is specifically designed for this. I started taking it twice a day, and I started seeing results in about a week. It is expensive, but worth it. You can find it in stores, in the refrigerated probiotic section.

I didn't even know I had bacterial vaginosis until I went in for a Pap smear test. Then they started me on a gel, now I feel like everything is on fire from front to back all the way past my anus. I itch like crazy, and I am extremely dry. Now I am having back pains. I wonder if this is normal or if I should go back to the doctor. I don’t want them to find anything else I did not know I had.

I have extreme embarrassment from bacterial vaginosis. The odor keeps me from leaving my home except to go to the doctor. I am antisocial and it is mentally disturbing. I always feel as though I always smell this way even after I have cleared up the problem. Wish I had no vagina. It reoccurs time after time. Not to mention the back to back yeast infections that are a side effect. I have had 15 years of dealing with this bothersome problem.

I had bacterial vaginosis for half a year and it always goes along with vaginal itching and lower back pain. My friend suggested to me to try trtaking traditional Chinese medicine. Because it has merits of short treating process, it has better curative effects and non-toxic side effect. And it is mild and less harmful to people's health. I searched for Fuyan pill, and took it for only one month, and my condition got better. I was so excited and continued to take, then I went to a hospital checking and found my leucorrhoea was normal. My bacterial vaginosis was basically cured within three months and never any recurrence.

I had suffered with occasional vaginal odor for many years. I have been to my doctor many times only to have temporary relief. I found Femanol through a web search and not had an issue since using it. I hope this helps others with bacterial vaginosis.

I have this foul vaginal odor for many years now, not sure if it is bacterial vaginosis. But there were times that it went off, but reoccurring for what reason I don't know. I have never seen a doctor about this, because I feel embarrassed about it. The only thing I can do is to do research about my symptoms and just washing my vagina with mild baby soap, and change underwear if needed. But it is really troublesome especially at work. It stinks even outside my pants. Sometimes I have this itchiness and burning sensation down there.

Get tested for ureaplasma! It is a bacteria that leads to bacterial vaginosis (BV) and is sexually transmitted. I have been free of BV after being treated with antibiotic for ureaplasma. Cured after 10 years of yeast infection and BV.

I observe I am getting bacterial vaginosis whenever I have rough sex with or without condoms.

I have had bacterial vaginosis for about a year. Gynecologists and dermatologists keep giving me creams and ointments. Nothing works, cortisone cream helps. I try not to us it more than twice a week. I changed all my personal products and detergents to no-scent natural. Aveeno products help, but not a cure. I have been taking acidophilus 3 times a day for about 3 months. I tried home remedies. I can't seem to get rid of it. I have had no sex for at least three years. I just keep trying. I have had shingles and have inactive colitis. I think my immune system is very low. Otherwise I am healthy.

I suffered from an extreme amount of discharge on a daily. I started wearing liners but I eventually went to the doctor to tell her my problems, she told me I had bacterial vaginosis and to take the pills. I am currently doing so but I have seen more discharge and my urine is brown. I am hoping after I finish my pills this will all go away.

Within 24 hours of a colposcopy, due to an abnormal Pap smear, I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. This came as a surprise to me because I did not have any symptoms. This is the second time I've been diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis; the last time I was diagnosed was at my last colposcopy about five years ago. Both times I've been prescribed a seven day course of antibiotics. At both times of these diagnoses I've been married to the same sexual partner; no others.

I first encountered bacterial vaginosis (BV) four years ago after a flight from the US to Australia. Only symptom was the stench; very embarrassing. I used panty liners and changed it every couple of hours and then saw my doctor when I returned home. The pH levels were definitely off. It has recurred every time I take a long flight (weird)! My treatment is to use RepHresh, an OTC vaginal gel that has four treatments over 12 days. That definitely removes the odor. Now I start a course before any long trip. Hope this helps others.

I started smelling a very foul odor every time I went to the bathroom, then it got so bad I could smell it through my pants. I waited for 2 months before going to see my doctor because I was hoping it would go away on its own and frankly I was too embarrassed to go see her. But it got to the point that I wouldn"t let my boyfriend touch me anymore and it was taking a toll on our relationship. Once I saw the doctor she did some tests and told me I had bacterial vaginosis. She also told me I could get rid of it with a medication called metronidazole. So, I took 2 pills a day for 7 days, and it has been a week since I stopped taking the pills and the smell is gone but now I have a burning and itching so unbearable that I can barely walk. My doctor can"t see me for a couple of days and I have to bear it till then. I"m hoping something can be done but until I can see her I will be doing some research on what I can use for it.

I thought I had a yeast infection, and tried the OTC products but they just didn't work. The smell was also very different than a yeast infection. When I went to my Gyn for my annual, I mentioned it to him. Sure enough, BV. It took two treatments to resolve, and I've gotten it twice since. It's more of a pain than a yeast infection because it can only be eradicated with prescription creams.

This is the most embarrassing condition to have. I have suffered with this condition off and on for the last 5 years. The worst part about it is the smell. It is the most awful smell in the world. I find that the antibiotic Flagyl or metronidazole is the most effective method of getting rid of BV (bacterial vaginosis). I recently spotted some over the counter treatment. It's called VH Essentials BV Treatment. I haven't used it yet but I read some really good reviews on the product. Hopefully this will be an alternate method of getting rid of BV rather than those nasty Flagyl tablets.
