I just had 10 liters of fluid taken out yesterday. It’s getting shorter between weeks that I have to go now, which will be every 2 weeks. It’s so hard to try and have a life with ascites.

I had all the classic signs of ascites’ fatigue, easy bleeding, no appetite, and abdominal swelling. I had a lot of fluid drained only once. I watched my salt and went on diuretics. Five months have passed. All symptoms disappeared. I've gained 35 pounds back… no fluid. I've cut my diuretics by 80 percent. All my test scores are in range or just out of range. Now begins the physical rehabilitation, strength, endurance, and range of motion. Good luck on your journey.

Yesterday I had 3 liters of fluid drained off. It was very painful to have the numbing needle go in first. Not good, and very sore today. Sadly, I've been terribly thirsty, and drinking much fluid. Fluid seems to be going right back to my abdominal cavity… I’m almost as bloated today as yesterday before draining. I’m still very thirsty. After the initial procedure for ascites I was relieved to have less pressure. I'm going to check and see if the doctor can put in a port to drain fluids daily without all the pain.

I have been given 40 mg of furosemide for ascites, I take it every morning. It gives me really bad stools after a few days. My whole body is swollen with fluid, but my doctors won’t drain the fluid.
