My primary care physician got a good laugh when I shared my concern of ascariasis with him. He picked up my chart, loudly vocalizing, 'patient said she thinks she has a worm in her neck.' He proceeded to ask me about my home life and relationship with my parents. He then asked if I would be willing to answer a few questions; also known as a psych test. I was diagnosed with severe depression on the spot. Not a chance. My 2nd attempt was my gynecologist. Her response, 'I wouldn't know the first thing to do.'

My doctor has told me Americans don't get worms after I handed him a bag with one I threw up. I can feel them in my neck and behind my ear and in my left groin area. They are very painful. They only show up on CT scan as swollen area and I was told I had inner ear infection but it has never gone away. I am afraid I am passing my ascariasis on to my children; my daughter is now passing blood in her stool.
